Patrick Boisseau

Short CV

M. Patrick BOISSEAU is graduate from the Institut National Agronomique (1983) and from the Ecole Nationale du Génie Rural, des Eaux et des Forêts (1985). He has a Master’s Degree in Human Nutrition (2005).

He joined the French Atomic Energy Commission - CEA - in 1987 to work for 7 years as academic research fellow in plant biology. He then moved for 4 years to the Foresight & Strategy Division at the CEA headquarters as expert on strategy in life sciences and environment.

From 2001 to 2004, he is committed to the design, the organisation and the funding of the NanoBio innovation centre in Grenoble. This NanoBio cluster brings together engineers, physicists, chemists, biologists and medical doctors to develop new miniaturised tools for biological applications (130 people involved incl. SMEs). The NanoBio center is linked to the Minatec Innovation Center, the 1st European centre for micro- and nanotechnologies.

From 2004 till 2008, he was coordinator of the European network of excellence in nanobiotechnology, Nano2Life (www.nano2life.org). This network of excellence integrates 23 full academic partners and 41 associate companies in a comprehensive joint programme of activity. More than 400 scientists were participating to this network.

Since 2006, he is Member of the Executive Board of the European Technology Platforms on Nanomedicine and chairman of the working group on “nanotechnology based diagnostics and imaging”. He is a co-founder of the French Technology Platform on Nanomedicine, in 2007.

Since 2008, he is Programme Manager at CEA-Leti, on “nanostructures for molecular imaging and therapy”.

Mandates

• Foundation in 2004 of the nanobiotech section at the European Federation of Biotech.
• Member In 2004-2005 of the steering committee of the European Science Foundation Forward Look on Nanomedicine, responsible for the working group on “nanodiagnostics”.
• Chairman since late 2005 of the working group on “nanotechnology based diagnostics and imaging” at the European Technology Platform on Nanomedicine, and thus member of its Executive Board.
• CEA representative at the group “medical technologies” of the European Technology Platform on Smart Systems Integration (EPoSS)
• Experts for several international organizations like European Science Foundation, and the European Commission
