The Association "Microsystems for Biotechnology and Lifesciences" organises on 22nd and 23rd June 2010 its 6th Annual Conference at Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology in Aachen.
The focus of this year's conference is "Optical Bio-Microsystems Technology".
Bio-Microsystems Technology (BioMST) delivers components and systems for the research of interactions on the biomolecular and cellular level. It is the basis for the development of medical devices in the fields of minimally invasive and preventive medicine and creates new methods and procedures for the fabrication of medical implants. The large potential offered by miniaturizing allows the realization of portable sensors and sensor networks for analytical applications in the security and environmental sectors as well as for clinical diagnostics.In this sense, BioMST is a key technology with a large application potential.

Due to the availability of diode laser systems and spectrally matching fluorescence markers, optical detection methods have experienced rapid development in the last few years. This trend is to be accommodated by the focal theme of »Optical BioMST« at the annual conference this year. |
