 l Barriers 2010 is committed to the pulsating questions in the triangl
 e of in vitro tools\, nanotoxicology\, and nanomedicine. Due to the in
 creasing need to investigate the safety and potential risks of new nan
 omaterials a new area of science - nanotoxicology - is currently emerg
 ing. Although the expected answers might be different\, nanotoxicology
  in many cases asks similar questions as nanomedicine and the same in 
 vitro tools of biological barriers are obviously most relevant. Substa
 ntial part of the programme will therefore be dedicated to this topic 
 and addressed by well known international experts\, making the confere
 nce and workshops most interesting to pharmaceutical scientists\, mate
 rial scientists\, biologists\, and toxicologists.
