Content of the Issue:

General Assembly 2009

The GA of the ETP will take place in Münster on 11 and 12 May 2009

The primary objectives of the meeting will be

  • the final discussion of the Roadmaps of the ETP to be delivered to the EC in Summer 2009
  • information about the ERANET EuroNanoMed and its calls to be launched in May 2009
  • Information about input in and impact on the work programmes of the EC units NMP, Health and ICT
  • discussion of future directions of European industrial R&D in Nanomedicine in view of the increasing competition from the US and Asia.

The meeting also provides a communication platform for networking and consortium building with leading experts from academia, industry and clinics.

Joint ETPN/EC Expert Workshop Results

"Roadmaps in Nanomedicine towards 2020"

In close collaboration with the European Commission, the ETP Nanomedicine is currently investigating how its Strategic Research Agenda can be transformed into a roadmap-based action plan. This is required in order to provide input to upcoming calls in the 7th Framework Programme, as well as to help to shape future work programmes such as FP8.

To achieve this, an expert workshop to discuss the strategic challenges in the area of Nanomedicine, to identify roadblocks or barriers as well as possible breakthrough areas was held in Brussels on 19.-20. February 2009. The ultimate goal of this workshop was to create a comprehensive vision of the R&D needs for Nanomedicine until the year 2020.
The workshop focused on three main areas:

  • Regenerative Medicine
  • Drug Delivery
  • Diagnostics

The results of the workshop shall be discussed during the General Assembly of the ETP amongst the members of the ETP.

The Round Table presentations and the Minutes are already available for the participants of the WS and to the members of the ETP.
