ETPN Expert Report 2009 publishedETPN Report 2009

The expert report elaborated by the ETP Nanomedicine together with the European Commission and the support of distinguished experts from academia and industry has been published.

Together with the European Commission, the ETP Nanomedicine initiated a roadmapping process in early 2009 with two objectives: firstly, to identify translatable trends in research and understand their expected impact on applications, products, and markets and secondly, to fine-tune and target research funding on areas with greater commercial potential and most importantly that will directly benefit patients.

This focus is especially important in view of the current financial crisis and the resulting need for increased public & private funding for research. The three key areas addressed are Nano-diagnostics, Drug Delivery and Regenerative Medicine.

ETPN Elections for the Executive Board

By the end of the year 2009 the ETP Nanomedicine will start its elections for a new Executive Board.

Positions to be elected are: Chairperson, Vice-chairperson, Chairs for WG Nanodiagnostics, WG Drug Delivery, WG Regenerative Medicine, Advisory Group ELSA, Advisory Group IP and Advisory Group RA.

If you are member of the ETPN and also represent leading industry strongly involved in the field of nanomedicine, you are invited to candidate for one of the open positions. Please contact the secretariat for further information and quotes.

ETPN Website - New "job offers" area

In order to use the impact of the ETPN website recently a new section featuring job offers has been implemented. In the future this job market shall serve the community as place to find dedicated job offers in the area of nanomedicine.

Those institutions interested in publishing a job offer should contact the secretariat for further inquiries.

The ETP 2009 Conference discussed cross-platform collaboration

On October 13th the ETP leaders together with the Member States of Europe gathered in Brussels. The ETP Nanomedicine was represented by Dr. Jürgen Simon, co-chairman of the ETPN.

Representatives of European Technology Platforms and Member States met in Brussels on October 13th to discuss societal challenges, how ETPs can contribute to tackle them and how research policies can exploit synergies across technologies and across relevant policy instruments.

The ETPN co-chairman Dr. Jürgen Simon presented the ETP Nanomedicine and the related health issues to the ETP leaders.

During the meeting a discussion to federate ETPs addressing health issues was started.

The secretariat will follow up this process and provide further information once available.

EuroNanoForum 2009: Nanotechnology for Sustainable EconomyEuroNanoForum2009.png

The EuroNanoForum 2009 international nanotechnology conference took place form 2nd to 5th June 2009 in Prage organized as an event of the Czech Presidency.

More than 800 delegates from industry and the scientific community, from all over the world, attended the four days of plenary and parallel sessions.

The conference reflected the state of the art in European nanotechnologies and nanoscience. It highlighted the latest advances in fundamental research, as well as developments relevant to a wide range of industrial and societal needs. This edition of EuroNanoForum, following the success of the previous editions, had also a special focus on sustainable development and on the environmental impact of nanotechnologies.
